Job Summary

The Department of Health and Kinesiologyat the University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for anon-tenure trackfull time appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor beginning as early asFall2022. TheOccupational Therapyprogramis fully accredited byACOTE.The ideal candidate willhave teaching and fieldwork experience andability to teach a variety of curriculum content. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator oversees all clinical placements as required by ACOTE C Standards and assists the Program Director with program operations, tracking of student clinical placements and outcome data, and operates and continuously enhances the fieldwork division of the OT Program and affiliation agreements and clinical requirements of students. Our current program is a bridge program for COTAs to MOT.The Department looks to add anentrylevel OTDprogram in thenextfew years.

Review of applicants will begin on June 15, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.

Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a core faculty member within the Occupational Therapyprogram.
  • Oversee clinical placements for MOT program.
  • Design and teach courses in the MOT program that align with area ofexpertise.
  • Assist with program content development and enhancement as needed.
  • Assist with demonstration of laboratory skills and oversee a laboratory assistant.
  • Serve as a student OT Association (SOTA) advisor or research advisor.
  • Perform serviceactivitiesinthe Departmentand University, as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned¿doctorateinOccupational Therapyor related field.
  • Experience teaching in an educational program and knowledge of the ACOTErequirements.
  • Eligibility for Texas licensure.
  • A proven record of accomplishment in teaching and service is preferred.
  • Excellent¿writing and¿communication skills.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
