Mobile Health Scholar Academic Coach- Nursing  

D’Youville University and the Patricia H. Garman School of Nursing have been awarded a

HRSA grant to establish mobile nurse training units and increase opportunities for those in rural

areas. To that end, we are seeking an Academic Coach for a new academic opportunity.

The Mobile Health Scholar Academic Coach will be responsible for organizing the applications

and required materials of prospective scholars for review by the Selection Committee, a

subcommittee of the Mobile Health Grant Advisory Committee. The Coach will work with each

scholar, both individually and within the group to foster academic and social integration.

Monthly individual meetings as well as monthly seminars or other co-curricular activities will be

orchestrated by the Coach. The Coach will monitor the performance of Scholars on a weekly

basis to identify barriers and connect students with appropriate support. The Coach will provide

summary reports at the Advisory Committee’s meetings in aggregate form at mid-term and end

of semester. The Coach will also engage in recruitment of prospective diverse BSN students in

the targeted services areas and with recruitment partners. Some work may be done remotely.

The Mobile Health Scholar Academic Coach will have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing with 18 credit hours of graduate work in nursing

required; Master of Science (in Nursing) preferred,

• Registered nurse in the State of New York or eligible to acquire

• Experience with advising, tutoring, precepting students required; Experience as a faculty

member or peer coaching (FT or adjunct) preferred

• Experience with calculating GPAs

• Knowledge of academic success principles

• Keen interest in supporting disadvantaged students (personal statement included in cover

letter)

• Highly organized and self-directed; able to manage multiple priorities

• Expertise with the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Access, and student

information systems.
