Position Announcement

Summary of Responsibilities

The successful individual shall perform some or all the following duties:

  • Teach assigned sections in EMS courses.
  • Prepares instructional materials as necessary.
  • Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms and EMS learning labs using appropriate teaching methods.
  • Evaluate instruction and learning utilizing appropriate testing methods.
  • Maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Utah licensure in one of the following EMS provider levels: EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic with a current Utah BEMS EMS Instructor endorsement, and AHA BLS Instructor Certification, or
  • Licensure with a specific healthcare specialty (Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, P.A., N.P., MD/DO, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AHA ACLS/PALS Instructor (required for AEMT and Paramedic Programs).
  • Three years of prehospital experience with a 911 system.
  • Two years of teaching experience.
  • NAEMT Instructor certification (for Paramedic program).

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes, instructional strategies, and techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
  • Thorough knowledge of the appropriate field of study.
  • Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.
  • Skills in public speaking and report writing.
  • Ability to apply general principles effectively to specific conditions.
  • Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with people.
