Position Focus:
Yale School of Nursing (YSN) is seeking an experienced Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs to join its team of talented leaders. YSN, located on the beautiful and sprawling grounds of Yale West Campus, is conveniently located near major highways. The Assistant Dean would be an integral part of the team, playing a critical role in policy development, implementation, and strategic leadership. The position provides strategic oversight of faculty recruitment and retention, faculty development, promotions and tenure, and faculty policy. The Assistant Dean works closely with a variety of offices at YSN, including the Office of Institutional Research to implement systems that facilitate and track the work and recognition of all ladder and non-ladder faculty appointments. The Assistant Dean develops and leads the team that manages all faculty searches, appointments, and promotions processes at YSN. The Assistant Dean has responsibility for review and re(appointment) process for all clinical and instructional faculty. Represents YSN outside of Yale and at university, provostial, and departmental meetings. In all work, supports YSN diversity and inclusion values and commitments.

Essential Duties:
1. Oversees all administrative aspects of the faculty life cycle including faculty searches, recruitment, retention, development, review, promotion, leaves, retirements, and departures. 2. Reviews all reappointment, promotion, and tenure case files for current and prospective ladder faculty, ensuring procedural consistency and legal compliance. 3. Develops, implements, and evaluates effective systems and solutions for comprehensive workflows. 4. Serves as strategic partner, ensuring that YSN stays current with market demands for recruitment and retention of Nursing Faculty. 5. Serves as primary liaison between the faculty hiring committee and the curriculum committee to facilitate alignment between curricular needs and hiring efforts. 6. Works closely with YSN Division leadership and staff to ensure appropriate onboarding and offboarding of faculty. 7. Oversees office staff, ensuring adequate coverage and organizational effectiveness. 8. Manages visiting faculty, emeritus faculty, and courtesy faculty appointment process. 9. Oversees the processes for the collection of faculty data, including activities, publications, CVs and credentialing, and leave requests; manages processes for compliance requirements such as trainings, conflict of interests, and other required documentation. 10. Collaborates with the YSN Communications Office on faculty information for the YSN website and directory. 11. Manages the budget for the Office of Faculty Affairs. 12. Oversees the creation, revision, approval and application of faculty policies and procedures, including the YSN portions of the Faculty Handbook. Works with YSN Sr. Leadership to propose new or revised policies and liaises with YSN Committees and Provost’s Office and the Office of General Council for execution. Communicates policies and their interpretation to faculty and staff. 13. Serves as primary liaison between YSN Business Operations, Research Administration, Institutional Research, Development, Student Affairs as well as Yale’s Faculty Administrative Services, Office of General Council and the Provost’s Office to ensure a holistic approach to institutional policies and goals. 13.
