Job Description

The Program Director is responsible for the implementation of the curriculum consistent with the program philosophy, purposes and objectives and for ensuring the orderly progression and evaluation of students throughout the curriculum. The Program Director provides leadership and general supervision for the implementation of the curriculum and for promoting a functional teaching environment for the faculty. The position is congruent with a 75% administrative and 25% teaching function.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal or grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in recruitment, retention, and development of faculty. Coordinates teaching responsibilities of faculty considering needs of the program and qualifications of the faculty.
  • Ensures orderly admission, progression, and evaluation of students throughout the curriculum. Assumes responsibility for establishment and maintenance of clinical affiliations with agencies and coordinates requests for student placement.
  • Communicates student and faculty problems, needs, and activities to the Dean. Serves as an ad hoc member of all standing committees.
  • Coordinates and updates academic advisement, program assignments, and distribution of policy and other information pertinent to students through the academic advisement process. Assures that program elements are evaluated according to the program evaluation plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related disciplines.
  • Evidence of scholarship and service in nursing education.
  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or higher.
  • Experience in program administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in curriculum development and evaluation.
