Major/Essential Functions

The primary objective of this PRN position is to provide medical services and support to the TTUHSC School of Nursing Combest Wellness Center in the absence of nursing team as a PRN LVN.

Function within the nurse's legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting.

Demonstrate knowledge of the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Texas Board of Nursing Rules that emphasize safety, as well as all federal, state, and local government and accreditation organization safety requirements and standards.

Assume responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care provided to patients and their families.

Obtain instruction, supervision, or training as needed when implementing nursing procedures.

Accept and make assignments and delegate tasks that take into consideration patient safety and organizational policy.

Communicate patient data using Electronic Health Records to support decision making to improve patient care.

Provides Care Management Services, Refer to patients and their families to resources that facilitate continuity of care, health promotion, and maintenance and restoration.

Occasional Duties

May assist in other patient areas as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Completion of a Board of Nursing Accredited program of vocational nursing or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position; current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursing to practice vocational nursing pending full licensure in the state of Texas. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt. No experience required.

This position is subject to the CMS vaccination mandate.

Preferred Qualifications

CPR \\ BLS Certified.

Customer service oriented.

Experience in providing services to patients with a diverse patient population through the life span (adult & children).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience with electronic health records (EHR) documentation.

Experience in providing services to patients with mental illness.

Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
