Overview

General Statement of Duties

 Oversees the clinical placement of students enrolled in all Graduate Nursing programs. The individual maintains relationships with community health care organizations and providers and assists in the scheduling of student practicums to support the clinical components of graduate programs. The Clinical Liaison reports to the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs for the School of Nursing. 

Distinguishing Features of the Position

  • Initiate and maintain relationships with clinical sites/providers to support student clinical placements.
  • Assist students with identifying potential clinical placements and the policies/procedures to secure them. Support the Online Learning Department by communicating placement opportunities with students pre and post acceptance.
  • Maintain awareness of and manage pre-placement requirements with clinical sites inclusive of utilizing site-specific enrollment software.
  • Increase and maintain affiliation agreements between D’Youville and clinical sites/providers to support graduate and undergraduate placements. Manage assignment of professional liability insurance to clinical sites/providers for graduate and undergraduate placements.
  • Facilitate student compliance with CastleBranch
  • Coordinate with Program Directors and Course Coordinators to determine the number and types of placements needed for students each semester.
  • Manage Preceptor Perks program and the preceptorship documentation process utilized for preceptor recertification.
  • Maintain clinical site and preceptor databases to support reporting to state and national accrediting agencies.
  • Attend professional meetings, and other meetings when they occur as appropriate.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement, providing news on graduate nursing department, faculty, students and alumni.

Example of Duties (Illustrative Only)

  • Keep databases for annual reports for the New York State Education Department, American Academy of Colleges of Nursing and other organizations as necessary
  • Propose revisions to policies/procedures to facilitate placement of students for clinical experiences.
  • Provide informational sessions to faculty to update them on clinical facility rules and regulations.
  • Maintain an awareness of opportunities for clinical experiences in the community
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

  • Computer literacy (word processing, mail merges, spreadsheets, and database management).
  • Ability to utilize various software programs (Excel, site management software, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Experience with healthcare credentialing required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, document formatting, and mail mergers required.
  • Experience with Accreditation Standards associated with Nursing Education as outline by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the New York State Education Department preferred.

  • Experience with healthcare credentialing required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, document formatting, and mail mergers required.
  • Experience with Accreditation Standards associated with Nursing Education as outline by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the New York State Education Department preferred.

  • For normal office environment must be able to lift 25 pounds from floor level.
