Position Description 

The Seattle campus of the University of Washington School of Nursing (UWSoN) is seeking scholars with strong academic credentials to join our community of scholars at the associate professor level. The UW School of Nursing and the Department excel in supporting research and fostering academic and professional growth among faculty and students. The School is committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, and has an anti-racism/DEI strategic action plan that aligns with Diversity Blueprint and relates to all faculty scholarly activities. The Child, Family and Population Health Nursing Department (CFPHN) is one of two departments whose mission is: We are committed to promoting wellness, social justice, and health equity for diverse individuals, communities, and families. CFPHN enjoys a vibrant intellectual community encompassing nursing and other disciplines.  

We seek a colleague for a full-time, 9-month (September 16-June 15) tenure track position with an anticipated start date of September 16, 2024.The base salary range for this position will be $12,000 – $13,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. 

The successful candidate will be expected to: 

 

  • Conduct and maintain a collaborative research relevant to health equity and the department’s focus on the health of vulnerable and marginalized children, families, and populations 

  • Advance student learning through effective teaching, mentoring, facilitation, and support that aligns with the school's commitment to its diverse student body across all levels of the school’s nursing curricula (BSN, ABSN, MS, DNP, and PhD).   

  • Contribute to advancing professional and service activities within and beyond the institution and region 

  • Continue to work collaboratively across disciplines, cultures, communities, roles, academic backgrounds.  

  • Contribute to our community of scholars and commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion by bringing their whole and authentic selves into our discussions and decision making. 

  

Qualifications 

  • Candidates must have earned a doctorate (Ph.D., ScD, or DNS) in nursing or a related field, or foreign equivalent 

  • Candidates must hold or be eligible for RN licensure in Washington State

  • The letter should include: 

  • a summary of current/pending research and research goals 

  • a discussion of alignment between one’s research program and the CFPHN research focus areas 

  • a statement of teaching philosophy and experience  

  • A current curriculum vitae 

  • A personal statement (1 page maximum) describing current activities and potential to contribute to the UW’s and the School of Nursing’s diversity mission, inclusive excellence, and commitment to being an anti-racist institution.
