Position Summary:
Teaching:

  • Teach courses at the undergraduate level; help with curriculum development; and other program-related activities.

Research:

  • Conduct research and scholarly endeavors that leads to securing extramural funding to support an ongoing research agenda.

Advising/Service:

  • Involvement in campus, community, and professional service; advising undergraduate students in the program.

*The anticipated start date is August 2024 or an alternate negotiated start date.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing and an earned terminal degree in Nursing or Nursing Education (PhD, DNS DNP), Education (EdD) or a related field.
  • An active RN license in MI or eligibility for a MI nursing license.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience in an undergraduate nursing program.
  • Evidence of scholarship and creative activities.
  • Experience in clinical practice.

Desired:

  • Previous work with students doing research.
  • Demonstrated interest in securing extramural grants and contracts.
  • Experience working in the healthcare field outside of academic employment.
  • Experience working collaboratively with other professionals on projects and assignments (interdisciplinary experience).
  • Evidence of involvement with professional associations and organizations.
  • Proficiency in use of technology.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

The Pre-Licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is located within the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Sciences in The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions.

The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). The college offers undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs in athletic training, audiology, communication sciences and disorders, exercise science, environmental health and safety, health administration, physical activity specialist, physical education, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, school and public health education, speech-language pathology, and sport management, delivered by 100+ faculty/staff.
